EDUC 6162-2 ::Week 3: Introducing My International Contact

EDUC 6162-2 Colleagues:

I would like to introduce you to Jody. She is an early childhood professional living and working in the Middle East. She has lived and worked in many diverse locations and is an expert on childcare and education.

She is also a colleague in our class which makes her the perfect collaboration partner for this part of the course. Here is a link to her blog for this course so you can get to know her better.

    It is cool that you have chosen to work with someone who is a colleague in our class. I would be interested to see what she has to say about poverty.

    Hi Kim, I am always interested in Jody's perspective on things given her current residence in the Middle East. I think it is great that you have chosen her as a resource for this part of our course. I look forward to reading what you have learned from her.

    Thank you all for your vote of confidence. It has been very difficult to find information and statistics related to poverty here in Qatar. Officially there is no poverty amongst the Qatari people themselves, although some people tell me differently, but it is hearsay. None-the-less there are exceptionally poor people living in the country migrant workers or people without appropriate documentation and/or money to return to their country of origin. The information I got on these people is from a lady who goes into the communities to establish issues, raise awareness of these plights and then returning to take action. She is a remarkable woman who has gathered a network of supporters and supports within our community in order to make a difference in the lives of these people.

    I have not been so lucky to make contact with a international professsional.But I am glad you got the opportunity to make contact with Jody and share her knowledge and expertise. Thanks for sharing.
